Guide to Using the TNVID (PT Sertifikasi Sistem Indonesia) Certification Assurance Mark
The right to use the certification assurance mark is one of the primary benefits an organization receives after successfully achieving international standards compliance certification. This mark serves as a visual symbol that demonstrates to investors, partners, regulators, and the public that an organization’s management systems, personnel, and products have been independently assessed for conformity and found to meet global standards.
However, to maintain the integrity of accreditation status and prevent misinformation from the public, the use of the certification assurance mark is governed by strict legal provisions in accordance with international regulations.
1. General Terms of Use
Every client who has ACTIVE certification status has the right to use the Certification Assurance Mark by complying with the following basic rules:
Exclusive Rights
The right to use the certification guarantee mark is granted only to the business entity, facility, or operational scope legally listed on the official certificate.
Visual Proportion
The certification assurance mark may not be altered, deformed, broken into components, or colored outside of the official published graphic guidelines.
Registration Number Inclusion
The certification assurance mark used in publications should ideally include the unique certificate registration number and the standard being tested (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.) to maintain information transparency.
2. Accreditation Compliance Rules & Strict Restrictions
In accordance with international accreditation regulations, the scope of conformity assessment by TNVID is not limited to Management System certification but also includes Personnel and Product certification. Therefore, the use of the certification assurance mark is specifically and strictly regulated based on the type of certification obtained.
Violation of the following usage restrictions may result in immediate certificate suspension:
Limitations for Management System & Personnel Certification
Because this type of certification focuses on PROCESSES, ORGANIZATIONAL OPERATIONAL SYSTEMS, or INDIVID COMPETENCE (not the physical quality of the goods), the TNVID Logo or accreditation symbol CAN NOT be affixed directly to the physical product, the product’s primary packaging (which directly touches the product), or the product label. Its use must not be made in such a way as to imply or give the impression to consumers that the physical product has passed product quality testing (product certification).
Conditions for Product Certification
Exceptions to the affixing of logos on physical products only apply to holders of valid Product Certification. The product certification logo may only be affixed to products, packaging, or labels whose specific variants/types have been declared to have passed the conformity assessment. This logo may not be misused or affixed to other product variants that have not been audited/tested, even if they are produced by the same organization.
General Restrictions on Laboratory & Inspection Reports
For all certification types, the logo CAN NOT be included on laboratory test results sheets, calibration reports, or technical inspection certificates. These activities fall within the different areas of competence of conformity assessment, and the independence of technical reports must be strictly maintained.

3. Permitted vs. Prohibited Media
Clients are permitted to display the TNVID Logo and Certification Assurance Mark on the following corporate communication media, provided they do not violate applicable restrictions. For ease of understanding, here is a quick guide to permitted and prohibited media for displaying the TNVID Logo and Certification Assurance Mark:
Violation of the following usage restrictions may result in immediate certificate suspension:
The Certification Assurance Mark can be used on:
1 Administrative Documentation
The certification assurance mark can be included on official internal and external organizational documents.
- Examples of use:
Official letterheads, invoices, internal training certificates, quality policy documents, and annual company reports.
- Function:
Demonstrate to clients, business partners, and stakeholders that the organization’s administrative and governance processes meet international standards.
2 Physical & Operational Assets
The certification assurance mark can be placed on physical facilities or operational support equipment owned by the organization.
- Examples of use:
Personnel uniforms, operational vehicles, office buildings, factory buildings, and personnel ID cards.
- Function:
Builds internal pride while conveying a strong professional impression to the public or guests visiting your organization’s operational facilities. (Important note: The placement of this mark on physical assets must adhere to the key principle that the logo should not be positioned in such a way as to be perceived as a mark of approval for a physical commercial product, except for product certification schemes.)
3 Digital Media & Promotion
Usage in the digital realm to strengthen an organization’s branding and credibility online.
- Examples of use:
Official website, email signature, official mobile app, and digital presentation materials (such as corporate PowerPoint files).
- Function:
Ensuring that anyone who interacts with your organization online immediately knows that it operates according to globally recognized standards.
4 Marketing Communications
The certification assurance mark is permitted for use in various advertising and marketing campaign materials to increase competitiveness in the marketplace.
- Examples of use:
Printed or digital brochures, pamphlets, billboards, mass media advertisements, and promotional posts on social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Function:
Serves as a differentiator from competitors, increases the trust of potential customers, and emphasizes the organization’s commitment to quality, competence, or safety.
The Certification Guarantee Mark CANNOT be used on:
1 Products & Packaging (Except for Product Certification)
This point strictly prohibits affixing certification guarantee marks directly to the goods sold or their packaging.
- Reason:
Management System Certification (such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, etc.) or Personnel Certification guarantees the operating system or individual competence, not the physical quality of the product itself. If the logo is affixed to the product or its packaging, it could mislead consumers into thinking that the physical product has been laboratory tested. (This provision does not apply to holders of official Product Certification for the relevant product scope.)
- Correct Solution:
For Management System certification holders, you may use a textual statement on secondary/tertiary packaging, such as: “Produced in an ISO 9001-certified facility,” without displaying the certification guarantee mark visually.
2 Technical Reports
The certification assurance mark is not permitted to be included in technical reports containing test results, inspection results, or calibration certificates.
- Reason:
Technical reports or test certificates are the specific output of a conformity assessment task/activity. Incorporating the TNVID logo in such reports may give the false impression that the contents of the report or test results were independently issued or approved by the certification body.
- Exception:
This limitation is crucial to maintaining the independence of technical report results in the marketplace, keeping them objective and separate from the organization’s certification claims.
3 Inappropriate Claims
This point prohibits the use of a guarantee mark to claim matters outside the scope of the approved certification.
- Reason & Example:
If your organization has only received ISO 9001 (Quality Management) certification for a specific branch office, you are not permitted to display that logo for operations in other city branches that have not been audited. Similarly, for personnel or product certifications, the logo may not be used to claim the scope of competencies or product variants that have not passed conformity assessment.
- Impact:
Violating this provision may be considered an act of misinformation or public deception, which risks having your organization’s certification status suspended by the TNVID.
4. Use of Joint Accreditation Symbols (Joint Marks)
If the certificate you receive contains an accreditation body logo (such as the IAF global recognition symbol or the relevant national accreditation body) alongside the TNVID logo, the co-location rules must strictly adhere to the specific graphic requirements. This accreditation symbol is subject to binding international regulations and MUST NOT be displayed alone or separately without the primary logo of TNVID as the authorized issuing body.
5. Sanctions for Misuse
TNVID regularly conducts market monitoring and surveillance of clients’ use of the certification mark, both in the general market, on physical products in the field, and in digital media.
Any form of misuse of the certification mark (including violations of product, personnel, and technical report limitations), use after the certificate has expired, or use while the certification status is suspended will be subject to gradual sanctions, including:
- An official written warning.
- An order to withdraw communication media, marketing materials, or products that violate the rules.
- Instant suspension or withdrawal of certificate status.
- Legal action in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for violations of TNVID’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
